Security is a
daily practice.

A hardware wallet helps keep your keys offline, but your decisions matter too. Pause before signing, verify every address on your device screen, and be wary of urgent messages or unexpected links.

4 MIN READ

Getting started with a hardware wallet is less about mastering every crypto feature and more about building a few careful habits that put you in control.

Start with a trusted setup

Begin from the official Trezor website and follow the current instructions for your exact device. Install the companion software only from an official source, keep your device firmware up to date, and read prompts on the wallet itself. A genuine hardware wallet is designed so sensitive actions are confirmed on the device, not blindly approved on a computer screen.

Your recovery backup is yours alone

During setup, your device will guide you through creating a recovery backup. Record it accurately, keep it offline, and store it somewhere private that you can access if needed. Never photograph it, type it into a website, or share it with anyone claiming to be support. Your backup is not a password reset link: it can restore access to your wallet, so treat it with the same care as the assets it protects.

Slow down before every transaction

Crypto transactions can be difficult or impossible to reverse. Before approving one, check the recipient address and amount directly on your device display, and make sure you understand what the transaction does. Be cautious of surprise giveaways, direct messages, and requests that create pressure to act quickly. Good security is a steady routine: verify, pause, then decide. With a thoughtful setup and a little ongoing attention, you can explore digital assets with greater confidence while remaining responsible for your own choices.
